I created a short animation which depicts a narrative using semiotics and imagery. My story is about a planet which I have named Saturn who sits in orbit sleeping. Then suddenly on the right of him a portal appears and out of the portal a spaceship flies across the screen and disappears to the left. The planet gets startled by this and looks surprised. He then looks left to right but can’t see anything so he then falls back asleep. The medium I started out with was the Adobe Illustrator. I used illustrator to first scamp out all my images so that I could create a digital storyboard of my short animation. Then using the various tools in Illustrator, I finalized my images and coloured them in. I then save my images and imported them into my second medium, Adobe after effects. In this program I pieced together all my images and constructed a narrative with them using various tools such as, resizing, parenting, motion and opacity key frames. Using these I made images of objects, move, appear and disappear or rotate. To display the emotion on the planets face I created separate layers of his face and eyes so that I could make it look like he was waking up or dribbling down his chin.
